Polished Peruvian Covellite in Deep Metallic Blue

This rounded, irregular covellite has been polished to a strong metallic gloss. Its near-black indigo ground is scattered with fine gray markings, while slender blue-green and yellow-brown lines appear toward the lower area.

Covellite is a copper sulfide mineral with the formula CuS, admired by collectors for its naturally deep blue metallic character. This specimen is from Peru and offers a compact, tactile expression of the material.

View it under soft side light, positioned away from direct reflections. This allows the dark blue ground and subtle colored lines to emerge without the polished surface overwhelming them.

If the surface becomes cloudy, it may be gently refreshed with a silver-polishing cloth. Do not wash with water.
