Itoigawa Jadeite - Japan
Itoigawa Jadeite - Japan

This polished jadeite from Itoigawa, Japan, has a delicate pale tone with a subtle blue-white cast. When a light is brought close, the material shows a slight translucency.
Joun was drawn to its quiet, distinctly Japanese character. The smooth finish makes it comfortable to handle or place directly on a desk, where its restrained color can be appreciated without demanding attention.
Itoigawa Jade
Jadeite is known for its exceptional toughness and has a long history in Japan. The Itoigawa Geopark Council dates the region’s jade formation to approximately 520 million years ago and describes it as the world’s oldest known jade. Jadeite is also recognized as Japan’s national stone.
Care
Although jadeite is durable, protect it from hard impacts. Joun recommends avoiding prolonged direct sunlight to preserve the delicacy of its appearance.
