This polished Blue Anhydrite has a quiet sky-blue tone, with a suggestion of deep navy softened by white. The smooth pebble form brings the color forward while retaining the presence of a natural mineral object.

Joun was particularly drawn to its unusual atmosphere. Although solid in the hand, it appears almost soft or “fluffy”—a visual impression rather than a description of its actual texture. It does not show the pronounced reflective character often associated with selenite, giving it a more subdued presence in a room.

Anhydrite is an anhydrous calcium sulfate mineral related to gypsum. This piece is documented as originating from Chicla District in Huarochirí Province, Lima, Peru.

Care

Anhydrite is relatively soft and brittle. Keep it dry, avoid direct sunlight and impacts, and wipe the polished surface gently with a soft, dry cloth. When not displayed, storing it securely in a box or drawer will help prevent accidental drops.
